Venus Viva is a noninvasive treatment that uses ablation (soft tissue removal) through a combination of Nano-Fractional radio-frequency and Smart Scan technology to resurface and remodel skin, and enhance the appearance of various skin conditions, such as rosacea.
Reger Vein and Skin Specialists, led by the cordial Dr. Gregg Reger, provides Venus Viva and other medical spa treatments to patients in Spring, TX, The Woodlands, and surrounding communities in the mighty state of Texas.
How does it Work?
The Venus Viva handpiece administers energy through the skin using a “stamping” technique which is similar to IPL. This produces heat while triggering collagen production and stimulating fibroblasts.
Venus Viva addresses the epidermis (superficial skin layer) and dermis (deeper skin tissue) unlike other technologies which are capable of removing only surface skin. The outcomes offer the maximum effects with the least amount of discomfort when used for treating rosacea.
The Smart Scan technology allows the patient to remain at ease by releasing energy to the handpiece in patterns. This prevents the patient from feeling the full impact of the treatment at one time.
The treatment offers the patient tauter skin, enhanced skin texture, pore minimization, and an improved skin tone.
Advantages of Venus Viva
Patients usually require many days to weeks of downtime with most skin resurfacing treatments. However, Venus Viva enables patients to resume their normal activities right after the treatment. The patient may experience some redness which will subside in a few days, and in the meantime they can easily cover this redness with makeup.
- Effective on all skin types.
- No requirement of pain meds, only a topical anesthetic cream is applied.
- Safe to use on any body part except for the eyelids and lips.
Venus Viva Procedure
The treatment provider will apply a topical anesthetic to the targeted area to reduce any discomfort. The topical cream will remain applied for around 15 to 20 minutes. The patient’s skin should be dry (with no application of gels or lotions) to enable the applicator to have complete contact with the skin.
The provider will cleanse the treatment site thoroughly with alcohol before the treatment. This enables the removal of any residue to allow complete contact of the Venus Viva applicator with the skin.
Venus Viva does not use a chilling air system to cool the treatment area beforehand unlike other treatments. However, the provider may use one following the procedure to cool the treated area and help the redness subside. The Venus Viva technician will use the applicator to treat the targeted site with individual bursts of energy.
On top of this, the technician may adjust the settings to address various areas with different energy depths. The patient may feel warm during the treatment and experience a sensation comparable to a pinprick or rubber band snap with different pulses.
While some areas may be more sensitive to these sensations, the patient should never feel unbearable pain during the session. Upon full treatment of the targeted area, the provider will ask the patient to sit with the air chiller for some minutes to soothe redness and heat on the skin.
The treatment provider will remove and label the patient’s tip for future use as every tip has a total of 1,000 pulses which can be used again (on the same patient). The technician will apply hydrocortisone to treated areas and provide the patient with a post-procedure kit to take home. The time taken for the treatment is around 45 to 60 minutes for the face and differs for other areas.
