Venus Viva is a nonsurgical treatment for skin resurfacing that mitigates the appearance of acne and other scars, rosacea, stretch marks, deep wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, pigmentation, and addresses signs of sun damage.
Reger Vein and Skin Specialists, led by the astute Dr. Gregg Reger, provides Venus Viva and other medical spa treatments to patients in Spring, TX, The Woodlands, and other suburbs and neighborhoods in this part of the southwest.
Prior to the Treatment
The patient should refrain from using anti-inflammatory meds such as ibuprofen one week before or after Venus Viva treatments. As a part of the new collagen production, Venus Viva and Viva Diamond Polar cause some inflammation on the skin.
The provider will take a series of before pictures and have the patient review and sign a consent form. Subsequently, the patient’s skin will be thoroughly cleaned and wiped with alcohol.
Venus Viva Treatment
The provider will apply a layer of specially compounded numbing cream to the treatment site(s). This will remain on the patient’s skin for up to an hour to make sure that they remain comfortable during the session.
In case of Viva Diamond Polar treatment, the technician will apply a thin layer of gel to enable convenient applicator gliding. However, a numbing cream application will not be necessary in this case.
The patient will feel a prickling sensation and heat. In certain areas, they will experience a sensation akin to an elastic band snapping against the skin. However, the procedure can be individualized to alter the settings to suit the patient’s comfort level.
After the Treatment
Following the treatment, the patient will experience moderate redness and some slight inflammation in the treated sites in patterns the size of the treatment tip. The redness should resolve in a few hours while the inflammation should subside within 12 to 24 hours.
The patient should only apply products recommended by their treatment provider on their skin after the procedure and not use any product that exfoliates such as retinol, glycolic acids, or salicylic acids. They should also not use cleansing devices such as Clarisonic for a week.
It is sagacious to allow the skin to heal by itself. The patient may experience some itchiness which occurs during the healing process. They can use an over the counter allergy medication or apply hydrocortisone cream for relief from itchiness.
The patient should not scratch or pick at the treatment areas. In around 24 to 72 hours, they will notice small pinpoint crusts develop in each spot where the Venus Viva electrode pins touched the skin. These spots will resolve by themselves, and the patient can apply makeup to cover them in the meantime.
Venus Viva involves little or no downtime. Regardless, the patient may feel more comfortable taking some days off from their social engagements while the post-procedure effects resolve.
Number of Treatment Sessions
Venus Viva results are most prominent when the treatment is administered in a series of treatments, with a minimum of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart.
For full effects, the patient will require multiple treatments. Improvements will manifest progressively and peak at two to six months after the series is completed. Patients who need deeper skin resurfacing may require up to six treatment sessions to attain satisfactory outcomes.
Every handpiece tip is programmed to offer three regular treatments. To resolve acne scarring, the patient may require multiple passes in a single session. This means that the tip could last for two complete treatments. A series of three treatments every one to two years can help deliver the sterling results the patient and Reger Vein and Skin Specialists are hoping for.
