Dr. Gregg Reger is a physician with more than 20 years of experience in vein and skin care. He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch and is board certified in phlebology through the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine. He is also a fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. Dr. Reger personally performs all injectable treatments at Reger Vein & Skin Specialists, which he founded in The Woodlands in 2005.

What Causes Dynamic Wrinkles?
As we age, the skin loses elasticity and collagen. There are two primary types of wrinkles:
Static wrinkles – Visible even when your face is at rest
Dynamic wrinkles – Appear during facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, or raising your eyebrows
Dynamic wrinkles are caused by repeated muscle contractions beneath the skin. Over time, these lines can become more pronounced. BOTOX® works by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles responsible for these creases, allowing the overlying skin to appear smoother and refreshed.
What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription botulinum toxin treatment, often called a neuromodulator. It temporarily reduces the activity of the muscles that create certain expression lines. In adults, it is FDA-approved for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, forehead lines, crow’s feet and vertical neck bands.

What to Expect During Treatment
Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals. Using a very fine needle, small amounts of BOTOX® are carefully injected into the targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch.
You can return to normal activities immediately after your visit. Mild redness or slight swelling at injection sites is possible but typically resolves within a day or two.
Visible results often begin within 2–3 days, with full results appearing in about 7–14 days. Effects typically last 3–4 months.
Before and After Your Treatment
BOTOX® Side Effects and Risks
Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness at the injection site, and headache. Less often, BOTOX® can cause temporary drooping of the eyelid or brow, or dry eyes. In rare cases, the effects of any botulinum toxin product can spread beyond the injection area; seek medical help right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing. You should not be treated if you have an infection at the injection site or an allergy to any botulinum toxin product. Tell Dr. Reger if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition, or take blood thinners or other medications.
