What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that most commonly appear on the legs. Varicose veins may appear dark blue or purple and cause pain, itching, swelling, burning, and feelings of heaviness in the legs.
Treatment
Different treatments are available for addressing varicose veins, depending on your condition. Since varicose veins do not all respond to the same types of treatments, we offer endovenous laser ablation and ambulatory phlebectomy for varicose vein removal. During your consultation, Dr. Reger will perform a physical exam and create a treatment plan that is best for you.
Endovenous Laser Ablation: Minimally invasive treatment that is performed in-office under local anesthesia. During treatment, a small incision is made and a thin laser fiber is inserted into the targeted vein. Laser energy then heats the vein and seals it shut, rerouting the blood flow to healthy veins. The treated varicose veins are then reabsorbed by the body after a few weeks. Patients may resume normal activities immediately.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy: For veins that largely bulge above the skin, this procedure may be performed to remove the veins through a small incision. Results are visible immediately.
Results
Despite the fact that our varicose vein treatment techniques have been clinically proven, effective, and successful, it is still possible that varicose veins may reappear over time.
