Varicose Vein Treatment

Varicose Vein Removal

Having veins that bulge, twist, and protrude from the skin surface can cause a tendency to hide these areas of the body. At Reger Vein and Skin Specialists, we offer varicose vein removal for men and women using the newest endovenous laser ablation and ambulatory phlebectomy procedures.

Varicose Vein Removal

There are multiple types of varicose veins, and Dr. Reger will assess your individual condition and create a treatment plan that accurately targets your varicose veins and completely removes them from the skin without surgery or downtime. Not all varicose veins respond to the same types of treatments, and we offer both endovenous laser ablation, foam sclerotherapy and ambulatory phlebectomy for varicose vein removal.

Endovenous Laser Ablation for Varicose Vein Removal

This minimally-invasive procedure is considered by many to be one of the greatest advancements in varicose vein removal. During this procedure, a small point of entry is made in the skin, and a thin laser fiber is inserted under ultrasound guidance up into the targeted vein. Then, laser energy is emitted through the fiber, gently heating at the fiber tip as it is slowly withdrawn from the vessel, causing it to seal shut. This process reroutes the blood to healthier veins and improves the venous circulation. Treated veins are eventually reabsorbed by the body. This is a comfortable office procedure done with local anesthetic with an immediate return to normal activities.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy for Varicose Vein Removal

In locations where segments of varicose veins bulge highly above the skin, Dr. Reger may suggest an ambulatory phlebectomy procedure for some patients. This involves creating small one millimeter punctures along the side of the bulging segment of the vein. The targeted veins are carefully removed through the one-millimeter incisions. Patients are made comfortable during this procedure because there are no sutures, and both the removed vein and the one-millimeter incisions are typically not visible at the one-month follow-up visit. Areas with bulging varicose veins that are removed by ambulatory phlebectomy will look like normal skin immediately following the procedure.

Although our varicose vein removal treatments are clinically proven, efficient, and effective, it may still be possible for varicose veins to recur in the future. Dr. Reger can advise you on ways you can prevent this condition and maintain your healthy, beautiful skin.
